POWER LIMITING HEAT
TRACER
SC Electrics Power-Limiting Heat Tracing Cable is a specialized type of heating cable designed for precise temperature maintenance and freeze protection applications. Unlike self-regulating or constant wattage cables, it uses a unique semi-conductive matrix and specific design architecture to limit the power output as the cable temperature increases, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable performance.
Available is 10 Watts/Mtr to 60 Watts/Mtr.
Maintenance Temp upto 150 Deg C
Max Exposure Temp Upto 200 Deg C
Smart Heat. Maximum Efficiency.
Construction Features :
- Conductors: Typically parallel bus wires that carry electrical current.
- Heating Element: A semi-conductive polymer layer that adjusts resistance with temperature.
- Dielectric Insulation: High-temperature resistant insulation material such as fluoropolymer or XLPE.
- Metallic Braid Shielding: Provides mechanical strength and grounding.
- Outer Jacket: PVC or fluoropolymer for environmental and chemical resistance.
Working Principle :
- As the temperature increases, the resistance of the heating element rises, thereby limiting the current and reducing power output.
- Unlike self-regulating cables (which vary power continuously), power-limiting cables reduce power in defined steps, offering better stability in maintaining process temperatures.
Applications :
- Process temperature maintenance for pipes, tanks, and vessels.
- Freeze protection for long pipelines.
- Suitable for hazardous areas (certified variants).
- Used in refineries, chemical plants, and power stations.
Advantages :
- More stable and controlled power output compared to self-regulating types.
- Suitable for higher temperature applications (up to ~200°C maintain).
- Can be cut to length in the field (parallel circuit design).
